CLOGHER UNION FARMING SOCIETY

The annual ploughing match of the above society was held on Tuesday, the 1st inst., on the lands of JAMES RAMSAY, Donaghmeen, Clogher. The day was highly unfavourable, as it rained without intermission, during the whole proceedings. There were nineteen ploughs on the ground; the turn out exceeded that of former years, for which the society is so much celebrated. The following is the award of the judges: -

FIRST CLASS

1st prize – MR. JOHN CURRY, Halftown, Ballygawley; plough held by son JAMES CURRY.

2nd prize – MR. JOHN BRYAN, Lungs, Clogher; plough held by son WILLIAM BRYAN.

3rd prize – MR. ADAM RICHEY, Froughmore, Clogher; plough held by son, WILLIAM RICHEY.

4th prize – MR. JOHN SMITH, Cavanakirk, Clogher; plough held by servant, FRANCIS OWENS.

5th prize – MRS. R. W. MAXWELL, Killyfaddy, Augher; plough held by man, ANDREW CRAWFORD.
